Bulbs of krause

BULBS OF KRAUSE ANATOMY
Because the bulbs of Krause are so numerous throughout the mucous membranes they are often referred to as the muco-coetaneous corpuscles. They are also believed to be some sort of hybrid variation of the Meissner’s corpuscles.
The bulbs of Krause along with the organs of Ruffini have been deemed thermoreceptors.
The organs of Ruffini are the heat receptors while the bulbs of Krause are the cold receptors.
Both are technically considered to be mechanoreceptors, and are known to respond to the sensations of light pressure and soft, almost indiscernible low frequency vibrations.
