The endocrine system’s glands are located in various positions throughout the human body. They are found in the brain, such as the pituitary gland, the pineal gland, and the hypothalamus, as well as neck or abdominal regions. Glands such as the thyroid gland and parathyroid gland are located in the neck while the pancreas (which is a gland though sometimes referred to as an organ) and the adrenal glands can be located in the abdominal area.

The human body has sexual glands as well. The male body has gonads located in the scrotum. Alternatively, the gonads of the female (usually referred to as ovaries) are found in the pelvic cavity. The gonads and the pancreas are technically classified as mixed glands as they are able to serve the endocrine functions on top of serving the exocrine functions.

The endocrine system host numerous glands, including those listed as well as the stomach, kidneys, the placenta, the thymus, and the mucosal cells of the duodenum. While these are considered glands of the endocrine system, some of these glands overlap as functioning portions of other various systems and are classified as glands because they are able to perform endocrine system functions.
