Muscles involving facial expression
MUSCLES INVOLVING FACIAL EXPRESSION ANATOMYThe human face is well designed for a vast array of facial movements and expressions. Expression is part of the human means of social communication. This technique allows for communication of feelings and even sometimes thoughts without the assistance of words.
The muscles which allow this complex communication through various expressions are located in superficial positions along the face, the scalp, and the neck.
MUSCLES INVOLVING FACIAL EXPRESSION STRUCTUREEach muscle varies greatly when compared by size and strength, however all of these muscle originate from the same region. The bones of the skull as well as the fascia and the insert of muscle to skin in the same region all yield the facial muscles, and every facial muscle is innervated by the facial nerves.
The design of each attachment point for the facial muscles is superiorly fabricated to allow either the eyes, nostrils, or mouth to be affected with every muscle contraction.
