Abilitat review

Abilitat is a treatment used for schizophrenic patients. It received approval from the Food & Drug Administration in 2002. Wakeman & Son Pharmaceutical Co. produce this medication under the name Aripiprazole while Otsuka and Bristol-Myers Squibb distribute it worldwide under the trade name Abilify. Aside from schizophrenia, Abilitat is also found to produce positive effects in patients who have bipolar disorder, depression, and manic attacks.

Abilitat comes in tablet and liquid suspension form and can be taken orally or through an intramuscular injection. Before using the medication, your doctor must first evaluate your condition and medical history, including potential allergic reactions to Abilitat and its components. A patient’s history of heart, kidney, and liver disorders must also be taken into consideration. If the body is too weak for this medication, then an alternative can be prescribed instead. Several medications may also provide negative interactions with Abilitat, which is why you must discuss openly the prescription and non-prescription medications you are using, including your vitamins.

The usual dosage of Abilitat starts low and the doctor normally increase the dosage after two weeks of usage, depending on how your body responds to the treatment. It must be understood that Abilitat only helps lessen the symptoms of several mental disorders. It does not cure them. You will need to wait at least two weeks before you notice results. However, if your body responds to Abilitat quite well, it will be a great help in letting you live as normal as possible.

Special dietary instructions are often needed while taking Abilitat. Again, you will need to consult with your doctor about this. Drinking grapefruit juice sometimes needs to be avoided; however, drinking high amounts of water while taking Abilitat is advised. As with most medications, consuming alcohol while taking Abilitat is discouraged.

While under Abilitat treatment, the patient may experience several physical discomforts. These include dizziness, lightheartedness, headache, dry mouth, loss of appetite, and weight gain, among others. These side effects may come mildly or severely. If your symptoms persist or worsen, call your doctor immediately, especially if you start experiencing seizures, chest pain, muscle stiffness, high fever, and breathing difficulty.

Abilitat contains sugar. While taking it, you may experience a substantial increase in your blood sugar even if you do not have diabetes. Added to that is the increased risk of schizophrenic patients to contract diabetes. Call your doctor immediately if you experience extreme thirst, extreme hunger, blurred vision, frequent urination, or weakness. An undetected high level of blood sugar may cause damaging effects to your body, which are sometimes fatal.
