Ampy-Penyl

Ampy-Penyl review

Ampy-Penyl is a generic antibiotic often prescribed as Morisot, Amoxil, Biomox, Dispermox, Trimox, and Wymox. It is commonly used to treat bacterial infections in the body such as gonorrhea, skin infections, tooth infections, ear infections, tonsillitis, inflammatory illness of the lung, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and other forms of bacterial infections.

Ampy-Penyl is not for everyone. A thorough medical history should be disclosed to your physician prior to taking this medicament. Patients with a medical history that includes allergies to penicillin or cephalosporin, or a history of kidney illness, bowel illness, stomach illness, or intestinal illness may not be able to take Ampy-Penyl or may require careful monitoring while undergoing treatment, depending on the patient's condition.

The American FDA has rated Ampy-Penyl as a pregnancy risk category B. This medicament is not expected to cause harm to or birth defects in an unborn baby. Ampy-Penyl does pass through the mother's breast milk and there is a small risk to the nursing baby. Less than one half of a percent have reported candidiasis, diarrhea, or allergic reactions in nursing babies. Discuss with your physician whether the benefits outweigh the risks prior to taking this medicament if you are pregnant or nursing, or likely to become pregnant.

There are some known side effects associated with Ampy-Penyl, some of which are serious. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include facial swelling, including swelling of the lips, mouth, tongue, or throat, hives, and difficulty breathing. Other serious side effects include unusual bleeding, easy bruising, or seizures. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any of these symptoms.

Less serious side effects typically do not require emergency medical attention but should be reported to your physician. Less serious side effects include white patches on the tongue, mild nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, vaginal yeast infection, a black “hairy” tongue, or a sore mouth and tongue. Most of the side effects can usually be reduced to a tolerable level, simply by reducing the dosage of Ampy-Penyl.

Ampy-Penyl should be taken exactly as prescribed by your physician. If you miss a dosage, the dosage should be taken as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for the next scheduled dosage, the missed dosage should be skipped to avoid the potential of an overdosage. Overdosage symptoms include pain, twitching, weakness, pain in the fingers or toes, muscle spasm, loss of feeling in the fingers or toes, confusion, agitation, seizures, coma, or death. If you experience or think you might be experiencing any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention.

There is a risk of negative drug interaction associated with Ampy-Penyl. A thorough medical history should be given to your physician prior to taking this medicament. Patients also need to consult with their physician before taking any new medicaments, including over the counter medicaments and herbal remedies. Medications with known negative drug interactions with Ampy-Penyl include other antibiotics, methotrexate, probenecid, and allopurinol.

Patients need to take this medicament as directed by the physician until it is gone, even if their symptoms subside. Patients that end their treatment of Ampy-Penyl early run the risk of a relapse and can be more severe and more resistant to antibiotics. The chronic or overly frequent use of antibiotics can lead to the body's tolerance of the medicament, rendering it ineffective.
