Anastrozole review by Medicalook.com

Anastrozole is mainly used in hormonal therapy to help treat breast cancer. It is distributed worldwide under the brand name Armidex. It works in keeping the big C in check especially for women in their post-menopausal stage by regulating the amount of estrogen the body secretes.
Breast cancer cells need estrogen to grow. By regulating the amount of estrogen in a woman’s body, Anastrozole stops the spread of cancer. This is used along with other treatments and is prescribed to patients who just had surgery or radiation sessions.
Anastrozole is also useful for men and for children. Its hormone-regulating properties help prevent men from having hyperplasia, gynecomastia, and hypogonadism. Active men, including body builders, use Anastrozole as part of their steroid cycle. Excessive levels of estrogen may cause water retention and some ailments as well. Anastrozole helps in preventing such occurrences by regulating the amount of estrogen in your body. In case of children, Anastrozole is used to slow down the early onset of puberty. Growth disorders, which may cause several adverse effects to the underdeveloped young body, can be treated easily with a supervised intake of Anastrozole.
Anastrozole comes in tablet form and is taken by mouth typically once every day. The amount and length of the dosage depends on how the patient is taking it. Before starting on a treatment with Anastrozole, the patient must first discuss any health condition that might interfere with the efficiency of the drug. Previous and present conditions must be discussed openly with the doctor. Drug interactions are also likely to occur so it is best that you tell your doctor about all the prescription and non-prescription drugs that you are using.
Anastrozole intake must also be monitored closely by your doctor. He will know, upon further examination, whether your body responds to the treatment or not. If your body shows any signs that it is not taking Anastrozole the proper way, your doctor might suggest an alternative therapy. Anastrozole treatment may increase your risk for osteoporosis. Talk to your doctor about certain approaches you can use to deal with this.
Taking Anastrozole may come with several side effects. These side effects may be mild or severe depending on your body’s general health condition. Experiencing flu-like symptoms, sweating, abdominal disturbances, heartburn, mood swings, and depression among others are quite normal. If your physical and emotional discomfort proves to be greater than your body’s benefits from taking Anastrozole, you must tell your doctor about it. Severe cases of swelling, chest pain, breast pain, and the appearance of new lumps must be reported immediately to the doctor.
Several studies showed that using Anastrozole makes for better results than Tamoxifen. Still, you cannot just decide whether this drug is for you or not. In as much as you cannot use Anastrozole without a doctor’s prescription, you also cannot let someone else use your prescription. The dosage requirement for patients depends on their condition. This is a case-to-case basis. Special precautions can only be well taken cared of if you consult a doctor and if you present yourself for several physical examinations.
