Aripiprazole review

Medical conditions suffered through old age are quite many. That is why a lot of people feared old age. However, this should not be the case. If you are well aware of the methods you can use to free yourself of old age symptoms, you need not to worry about getting old. Aside from the preventive measures you must follow while you are young, there is also the help of Science to liberate you from fear. Several drugs have been developed to decrease the discomfort that age comes with. One of the newly-approved ones is Aripiprazole.

Aripiprazole is a treatment used for schizophrenic patients. It has just received approval from FDA in 2002. Wakeman & Son Pharmaceutical Co. produces this drug while Otsuka and Bristol-Myers Squibb distribute it worldwide under the trade name Abilify. Aside from schizophrenia, Aripiprazole is also found to produce positive effects in patients who have bipolar disorder, depression, and manic attacks.

Aripiprazole comes in tablet and liquid suspension form. It can be taken orally by mouth or through an intramuscular injection. Before using the drug, your doctor must first examine the patient’s health condition and medical history. Allergic tendencies to Aripiprazole and its components must be determined. A person’s history of heart, kidney, and liver disorders must also be taken into consideration. If the body if too weak for this drug, then an alternative is prescribed instead. Several drugs may also provide negative reactions to Aripiprazole. That is why, you must discuss openly the prescription and non-prescription drugs you are using, including your vitamins.

The usual dosage of Aripiprazole starts low. The doctor normally increase the dosage after two weeks of usage, depending on how your body responds to the treatment. It must be clearly understood that Aripiprazole only helps lessen the symptoms of several mental disorders. It does not cure. You will need to wait at least two weeks before you recognize results. However, if your body responds to Aripiprazole quite well, it would be a great help to let you live as normal as possible.

Special dietary instructions are often needed while taking Aripiprazole. Again, only your doctor could tell you all about this. Drinking grapefruit juice sometimes need to be avoided; drinking high amounts of water while under Aripiprazole treatment is advised. As with most drugs, using Aripiprazole along with alcohol is not encouraged.

While under Aripiprazole treatment, the patient may experience several physical discomfort. This include dizziness, lightheartedness, headache, dry mouth, loss of appetite, and weight gain among others. These side effects may come mildly or severely. If your symptoms worsen or severe, call your doctor immediately, especially if you start experiencing seizures, chest pain, muscle stiffness, high fever, and breathing difficulty.

Aripiprazole contains sugar. While taking it, you may experience a substantial increase in your blood sugar even if you do not have diabetes yet. Add to that is the increased risk of schizophrenic patients to contract diabetes. Call your doctor immediately if you experience extreme thirst, extreme hunger, blurred vision, frequent urination, or weakness. An undetected high level of blood sugar may cause damaging effects to your body which are sometimes fatal.
