Ceclor CD

Ceclor CD review

Ceclor CD is a second-generation broad-spectrum antibiotic from the antibacterial medicaments known as cephalosporins. It is also available under the brand names Ceclor, Ceclor Pulvules, and Raniclor.

Ceclor CD is used for the treatment of bacterial infections like pneumonia, and infections of the ear, lung, skin, throat, and urinary tract. It works by penetrating the body's tissues and fluids, and obstructing the growth of the bacteria that is causing the infection.

Patients should not take Ceclor CD if they are allergic to cephalosporin, penicillin or other antibiotics, or if they have a kidney disorder or any digestive illness like colitis. They should inform their doctor of these illnesses and get a prescription for a different dose and constant monitoring during the course of treatment.

Pregnant women or those planning to become pregnant should talk with their doctor about their situation before treatment. Since Ceclor CD can be passed on through breast milk, nursing mothers need to tell their doctor if they are breastfeeding before taking any dose of the medicament, so as not to affect nursing infants.

Patients should not take antacids that contain magnesium or aluminum while under Ceclor CD treatment as these can lower the efficacy of the antibiotic. Some of these antacids are Rolaids, Maalox, Mylanta, and Milk of Magnesia. Other medicaments known to affect Ceclor CD include Warfarin (an anticoagulant), Probenecid (an arthritis and gout medicament), loop diuretics or water pills, and other antibiotics. Patients should inform their doctor of any other medicaments, vitamins or herbal supplements they are taking prior to starting their Ceclor CD treatment.

Some known side effects include allergic reactions in the form of rashes, itching, uticaria (hives), fever, serum sickness-like reactions (hypersensitivity), arthralgia (joint pain), and anaphylaxis (whole body allergy). Patients may experience diarrhea, wamble, vomiting, stomach upset, transient hepatitis, jaundice, cephalalgias and Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a deadly allergic skin illness). In rare cases, blood disorders, nephritis (kidney inflammation), hyperactivity, nervousness, disrupted sleep, hallucinations, confusion and dizziness may occur.

Patients should immediately stop taking Ceclor CD and seek emergency medical attention if they experience severe allergic reactions which include breathing difficulties, swelling of the facial tissue, rashes, redness or itching, wamble, vomiting or diarrhea, blood or mucus in their stools, or unexplained bleeding and bruising. All side effects should be reported to your doctor for evaluation, particularly if they interfere with day-to-day activities.

Ceclor CD is manufactured in blue tables of 375 and 500 mgs.

Ceclor CD needs to be taken with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. The tablets are specially created to be released slowly in the body, so it is advisable not to cut, grind or chew them.

While symptoms of an infection usually disappear early, the bacteria causing the infection may still remain in the body. Cutting the medicament process short may cause the body to develop a resistance to the antibiotics.

Ceclor CD needs to be taken regularly during the prescribed period to make sure the body maintains a consistent level of the medicament and to obtain the best results from it. Any unused medicament should be disposed of after 14 days.
