Flurazepam review

Flurazepam is a drug that is used in treating people who have insomnia. This drug helps in slowing down the activities of the brain in order to give way for a person to sleep.

Flurazepam is a drug being prescribed to patients who have difficulty in sleeping. It belongs under the category of drugs commonly called as benzodiazepines which is being distributed under the brand name Dalmane. Flurazepam comes in a capsule form.

Flurazepam can be taken orally. The standard dose is one capsule a day taken before bedtime. You must maintain your dose according to your doctor’s prescription. Do not expect to feel any result immediately. Usually, you will experience the benefit during the third night onwards after the medication.

After a week your sleep problem will improve. If there are no improvements or your sleep problem becomes worst, inform your doctor as soon as possible.

When taking Flurazepam there is a tendency that you will form the habit of taking in more than what is prescribed. In this case, you must avoid using more than the allowed dosage.

Serious side effects may also occur such as hives, chest pain, rash, hoarseness, pounding heartbeat, swelling of different parts of the face, and difficulty in breathing. Some may even be in a state of coma for a period of time.

Whether you experience less serious side effects, you must inform your doctor the soonest time possible to avoid the risk of severe medical condition.

Before using this medication, you must first consult a doctor. Tell your doctor if you have allergic reactions with Flurazepam. Inform your doctor if you are using other non-prescribed and prescribed drugs especially when you are using medicines for anxiety, depression, seizures, and other similar drugs. This is to allow your doctor to evaluate drugs that may interact when used together with Flurazepam.

You must also tell your doctor if you have been using illegal drugs, alcohol and other substances prior to medication. It is also essential to tell your doctor if you have other medical condition like sleep apnea, lung disorder, liver problem, kidney problem, mental illness, and other medical condition.

Avoid driving and doing extreme activities while under medication. Also avoid intake of alcohol because it increases the side effects of the medicine. You must also lessen smoking when using this medication because it only decreases the effectiveness of the drugs.

It is important not to share this drug to any other person even with the same sleep problem with consulting a doctor. You must store the medicine in a safe place so no one can use it especially children.
