L-Norgestrel is a synthetic progesterone, which is mainly used as a major ingredient in hormonal contraceptives. It is available in numerous brand names like Follistrel, Levonorgestrelum, Microval, Nordette, and Trivora.

L-Norgestrel is mainly used as a contraception method. It is one of the most effective emergency contraceptive pills, which, when used within three days of unprotected sex can prevent conception. L-Norgestrel prevents ovulation by altering the uterine lining. With such a spectrum of action, L-Norgestrel is very dangerous to be used by pregnant women.
