Naratriptan is a drug that belongs to the class of medicines called selective serotonin receptor agonists. This drug helps relive the pains brought by migraine attacks. It is not intended to treat migraine.

This drug comes in a form of a tablet that can be taken orally. Drink plenty of water when taking Naratriptan. One tablet of this drug can be taken right after a migraine headache occurs. However, if no response is achieved from the first dose, you may take the second dose after four hours. It is important to follow the scheduled dosage of your doctor in order to get the full benefit.

Symptoms of side effects usually occur when taking certain medicines. Naratriptan is among the drugs that may cause side effects when used. The common side effects that are usually experienced by people using the medication include dizziness, change of vision, unusual weakness, upset stomach, tingling sensation, and either cold or warm temperature.

Serious side effects may also occur such as difficulty in breathing, severe stomach pain, chest pain, and swelling or redness of the lips, face and eyelids.

This drug may affect your mental and physical alertness, so it is advised to avoid activities that require normal alertness to avoid any accidents or injuries.

Breast-feeding mothers, pregnant women and those who are planning to bear a child should consult the doctor before using the drug for medication. This is very important so as to determine that there are no risks for the baby or unborn child.
