Sildenafil

Sildenafil review by Medicalook.com

Sildenafil citrate is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), or impotence in men. It comes under various brand names and generic names such as Viagra, Kamagra, Silagra, and Caverta. Sildenafil citrate comes in tablet form, and can help men get an erection and keep it when they are sexually excited. It should be noted that Sildenafil citrate treats erectile dysfunction, making it possible for a man to have sex, but it does not offer protection when he is having sex. It will not prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases. It will also not force sexual arousal where none exists.

Sildenafil citrate works by expanding the arteries in the penis, so that blood flows into the penis, and constricting the veins leading out, so that more blood flows in and less flows out, leading to a sustained erection. Sildenafil citrate does not cure erectile dysfunction, but it does treat it so that men may enjoy a normal sex life.

Sildenafil citrate has some side effects which generally present as mild to moderate, depending upon the dosage. The most common ones are headache, flushing face, and nausea. Anyone planning to take Sildenafil citrate should consult with his doctor before beginning to take it. Other side effects can include temporary changes in color vision, making it difficult to distinguish between colors, or giving things a blue tinge. You may also find that your eyes are more sensitive than usual to light, or that your vision is blurred. In rare cases, men have reported erections that lasts many hours; this is not a normal reaction, and you should contact your doctor if this occurs. Do not delay reporting this or there could be permanent damage caused to your penis.

You should make sure that your heart is healthy enough for you to be engaging in sexual activity. This is especially true since Sildenafil citrate can cause a drop in blood pressure leading to dizziness or fainting, and in rare cases, even cause you to have an irregular heart beat, a heart-attack or a stroke. Always tell your doctor is you have a history of heart problems such as angina or heart attacks, if you have high or low blood pressure, any kidney or liver problems, an eye disease called retinitis pigmentosa, or allergies to any of the ingredients in Sildenafil citrate. You should also make sure your doctor knows about any blood problems, such as sickle-cell anemia, any stomach ulcers or other bleeding problems, or a deformed penis or Peyronie’s disease.

Sildenafil citrate is to be taken about an hour before a man plans to have intercourse. It does not cause an erection, but makes one possible if a man becomes sexually excited. Its effects begin about thirty minutes after the pill is taken and last up to four hours. A high fat meal, such as fried foods, can delay the effectiveness of Sildenafil citrate. Sildenafil citrate should not be taken at the same time as any other prescription for erectile dysfunction, and it should not be taken by women or children.
