Zagam review

Zagam is an antimicrobial drug that was meant to treat bacterial infections, especially in the lung area. It is prescribed to patients with pneumonia, bronchitis, influenza, and the like. Zagam works by fighting the bacteria and reducing your symptoms in the process.

It must be clear that antibiotics are of many classes. There are tetracyclines and amoxicillins among others. Zagam belongs to the group of antibiotics called fluoroquinolone. It is made to fight a specific class of microorganisms the same way that the others are.

Before the use of Zagam, the patient must consult a doctor. The doctor’s diagnosis based on your symptoms and the results of some clinical tests ensures that treatment with Zagam is what you really need. What microorganism exactly causes the infection establish the medication therapy needed to make you feel better.

Aside from proper diagnosis, discussion of your medical history and possible dangers with the drug is also needed. Patients with heart ailments, kidney disorders, and epilepsy are of special concern. As per the doctor’s assessment they would either need a dosage adjustment or an entirely different drug to treat the infection without sacrificing their health condition.

Zagam must also be used with caution in pregnant and lactating women. The FDA puts it under pregnancy category C, which means that fetal harm is not established. In the same way, excretion of the drug in the breast milk was not determined to be harmful to the nursing baby or otherwise. For the most part, it is still much safer to do away without the drug as much as possible under both circumstances.

It must also be noted that Zagam is intended for adult use. Patients 18 years old and above are approved to use this medication treatment. The reason it was not approved for use in children is the possibility that the presence of the drug in a young one’s body may interfere in his bone development.

Zagam comes in 200mg tablets. The usual dosage is two tablets for the first day of treatment and one tablet a day thereafter for nine consecutive days. The 10-day treatment duration is the most common Zagam use. Then again, medication treatments are always on a case-to-case basis. Not one patient can borrow another one’s prescription even if they are experiencing the same symptoms.

Zagam can be taken with or without meals. There are some drugs, prescription and otherwise, that may counteract the benefits of Zagam. To be on the safe side, tell your doctor all about the drugs you are currently taking. He will give you instructions on how to manage your medications.

One important thing to remember about a Zagam therapy is to maintain a specific amount of the antibiotic in the body to kill the bacteria effectively. Patients need to take this medicine at an evenly spaced interval to ensure that the correct concentration is working out to make you feel better. Zagam can help reduce your symptoms before you finish the treatment period. However, it is not advisable to stop taking the drug at once.

Zagam has been found to pose very mild to moderate symptoms of side effects. Such symptoms include nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, headache, and increased sensitivity to sunlight. Continue taking the drug even with the discomfort of the above-mentioned side effects unless they persist or worsen. If the latter occurs, call your doctor immediately.
